Parts Comparison Lists

Please select the year you would like to view Japanese vs European car part prices from the menu on the left.

The purpose of this comparison is to show people that the parts prices for European cars are not nearly as expensive as many commonly believe. In fact, upon examination of the following spread sheets you should come to the conclusion that the pricing (European vs. Japanese) is roughly the same. The reason I did this is because many prospective European car purchasers usually come to me and tell me that someone has told them not to consider a Volvo or a BMW because they “cost a fortune” to own. Usually this person has been told by their Uncle Bob who has owned a vast succession of domestic cars, never owning anything but good ole American iron. Uncle Bob therefore is not a truly reliable source for such information or opinions.

Note: The prices here are dealer prices from each manufacturer. I tried to keep the comparison as fair as possible, that’s why I used only dealer prices to minimize the variables. You may be able to get some parts cheaper from your local parts store but these prices are for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts. When the value appears “N/A” it generally means that either the car does not have that part, or it is integrated into another part already listed.

Thanks for looking, as it took a while to compile the lists.
