MTO Standards

This list sums up the Safety requirements of the MTO -
FAR LESS COMPREHENSIVE IN CONTRAST TO PAROLIN STANDARDS

-Bodywork- underbody - (no holes in the floor)
-Bodywork- hinges and latches - (doors open/shut, trunk/hood work properly)
-Bodywork- sheet metal and bumpers -
(no holes in tops/sides of car, bumpers able to withstand specified impact speed and not fall off)
-Seat and seat belt assemblies (seats are secure to floor, seat belts work)
-Chassis frame components (not bent, and no holes)
-Mirrors (no cracks, clear and easy to use)
*note power adjusted - power function could be broken and still pass safety
-Glazing materials (all glass on vehicle is not broken and easy to see through)
-Windshield wiper/washer/defroster (all components work as they should)
-Speedometer (works, provides accurate speed readout)
-Lamps and reflectors (no cracks, turn on and off as they should)
-Headlight aim (not too high or too low)
-Fuel system components (no leaks) *actual running condition of engine and performance pertaining to fuel injection is not a concern but whether or not it leaks, that’s it.
-Exhaust system components (no leaks) *again, performance and drivability issues associated with exhaust are not a concern, as long as there are no holes that’s what counts.
-Brakes- drums and discs (enough friction material remaining)
(* you would be surprised how little brake rotor thickness is required to pass)
-Brakes - friction materials (brake pad thickness)
(* again not much brake pad thickness is required to pass)
-Brakes - Hydraulic System components (no leaks, no air in system)
-Brakes - mechanical components (working, free moving condition)
-Brakes - air system components (no leaks, free moving condition)
-Brakes - vacuum system components (no leaks in brake booster, power assist working)
-Brakes - emergency brake/park brake, performance/ adjustment (e brake works, and works well)
-Brakes - service brake performance adjustment (pads and calipers are not seized)
-Brakes - dual system warning (dummy light works)
-Horn - (works and makes proper sound)
-Accelerator linkage (free and not seized or slow moving)
-Steering - column and box (works and moves freely)
-Steering - linkage (works and moves freely)
-Steering power assist (works, no leaks)
(* what constitutes a “leak” can differ depending on the shop)
-Suspension - ball joints (not broken, no play)
-Suspension - springs (not broken)
-Suspension - other items (suspension allows for car to drive straight)
-Neutral Starting Switch (works as it should, not allowing car to be started while gear selector is in any forward or reverse gear)
-Tires (at least 2/32 tread depth at any three point on tread surface)
(* this equates to very little tread as far as I am concerned.
-Wheels - rims and fasteners (wheels are not cracked and are bolted securely)
